Originally opened in 2006. La Sandia is our lodging/restaurant/activities
center. We pride ourselves on eco friendly lodging and activities. Our main
activity being kitesurfing and kiteboarding offcourse.

La Sandia is owned and operated by Lucie Cordier & Kent Graninger
whom met and started dating in Costa Rica. Lucie manages the lodging and
restaurant along with scheduling tours/activities.

We also run TheKiteHouse a large high end kiteboarding travel operation
with locations in Costa Rica, Key West FL, Miami FL, Cayman islands.

Kent manages the kite school and shop along with other activities/tours.
PASA certified and a professional kiteboarder, he is able to teach many
facets of kiteboarding and is very knowledgable with the gear.

Damien Cordier is Lucie's brother whom owns and operates our boat used
for kiteboarding lessons and tours/activities. He also helps with instruction.

Located in the NW corner of Costa Rica is a bay called Bahia Salinas. Known to be the 8th windiest
place in the world. Our season starts Nov runs to April. We have 25mph+ wind everyday all day long.
Our average kite used is 8m. Our bay offers two flat water riding spots one being an island with beutiful
water and white sand beach. This is where we perform our kiteboarding lessons on this private island
named Balonas Island with a 16' zodiac. The main kitebeach is sideshore and long. Never too crowded.

The two international airports in Costa Rica are
(SJO) San Jose and (LIR) Liberia.

Liberia is much closer and easier airport. Just 1.5hr
drive north there are buses $5 taxi $70 or our shuttle
$80. Can offcourse rent a car as $35 to $65 per day.

San Jose is 5hr drive can take bus try and get direct
bus $15 or suggest rental car. Taxi too expensive.

From either airport you head North on the
Panamerican highway to town called La Cruz. Or
follow signs say Penas Blancas is the CR and
Nicaragua border but get off in La Cruz.

Drive thru La Cruz follow signs down steep hill and
onto dirt road towards Playa Copal. Takes around
10- minutes before you come across La Sandia on
the left our first location with Cabinas and office you
can stop in there for info or to check in.

Then another 5-minutes turn right at signs say Playa
Copal and you will see sign at the kite beach for
TheKiteHouse our second location and only kite
operation located at the kite beach.
